Water: A Threatened Resource
Population growth and commercial construction have altered the natural cycle of water, reducing both water quality and quantity. In a natural system, water from rain or snowmelt infiltrates the ground and replenishes natural aquifers.
On urban developed sites, rain falls on impervious surfaces, and rather than be absorbed into the ground, is channeled at a high rate and volume directly into storm sewers, lakes and streams. Along the way, stormwater runoff collects heat and pollutants which degrade natural habitats and threaten drinking water sources.
Because water is a threatened resource, we utilize design and installation practices that protect waterways. Within the scope of each project, we purposely make smarter construction choices that minimize the negative effect of development to protect our water.
