Pervious/permeable/porous surfaces These terms are interchangeable depending upon the material used. Any surface can be made to allow water to infiltrate ranging from traditional surfaces with a different composition or pavers and stone constructed with a larger joint space or grid structures. Most importantly, it is the materials used below the surface that stores the runoff until the subsoils are able to take in the water.
